That’s when the Hastings Sunrise CPC and partners hold their 9th Annual Document Shredding and Electronics Recycling Day in the Sunrise Square parking lot, 2500-block Franklin Street, from 10 am – 2 pm.
Best Shredding will shred your documents on the spot, while the HSCPC accepts your donations of funds towards local crime prevention programs. Small electronics, including computers, will be accepted for recycling.
Generous contributors to the annual event are Best Shredding, the Hastings North Business Improvement Association and VanCity Savings Credit Union.
Suggested donation: $10 per shredding box and $10 for electronic items.

We’re excited to announce a launch of This Neighbourhood Life, a special neighbourhood radio series in partnership with Roundhouse Radio, through support from Vancouver Foundation and Hastings Park Legacy Fund. The series will focus on the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood, and explore the experiences and amazing efforts of residents and businesses trying to create a welcoming, inclusive and liveable community. We launch on September 21st at Kiwassa’s 25th Anniversary Open House at 6PM with a free performance of short stories and music by some of Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood best-loved storytellers. A six-part series of broadcasts recorded live in our neighbourhood, starts September 22nd, and followed every second Friday from 10 AM – 12 Noon on Roundhouse Radio 98.3 – Sense of Place with host Minelle Mahtani. Each segment will bring a focus on a different set of issues and opportunities in Hastings-Sunrise, and their relevance to people across the city. Stay tuned for updates and details on where you can show up, listen in and participate in this exciting Fall radio series!
The Hastings North Community Partners Group would like to thank everyone who made the LightWaterDrum Festivals possible and so beautiful since 2011! Special appreciation to all of the artists, performers, lantern makers and procession walkers, the hard working volunteers, community members and neighbours who came every year rain or shine to help celebrate and make the festivals such an welcome addition to our neighbourhood. However, due to budget and timing constraints, we will be taking a break from hosting this event in 2018.
