Community Small Grants selected for 2018!

This year we had many more applications than in previous years, but a smaller budget, and as a result we had to make some difficult decisions. But despite the limited resources, we were able to allocate funds to 16 amazing community projects.

FEED Event is this weekend!

  Free lunch, workshops and activities. Bring your appetite! If you have a favourite quick, healthy recipe, tell us. Recipes from first FEED day will beavailable.    

The Alley Rally is a great success!

  The Alley Rally volunteers reclaimed the common space in the alley between the two streets, met new neighbours, saw old friends and made new ones. And at the end of the day a full truckload of junk was taken to the dump! What a great way to make a community.

Franklin Family Picnic

The Franklin Family picnic was a great success, with over 150 people coming together to enjoy good company, good weather and music by Wendy Biscuit, a Vancouver jazz, blues and swing solo artist. Face painting, pony rides and a bouncy castle provided a lot of fun.

Community Gathering Seating Area within Hastings Community Centre Learning Garden

Creating a seating area and improving the garden at the Hastings Community Centre. The garden is used by those who come to the Community Centre for activities, and by the neighbourhood residents.

Community Clean-Up and Neighbourhood Celebration for Skeena

A community clean up of the area bounded by Adanac, Edinborough, Cassiar and Boundary Streets with residents of Skeena House, at 3475 Hastings Street, a transitional housing facility, and residents of the neighbourhood. To assist in integrating the members of both communities, and to help all release that they live together.

Aboriginal Spirit Sharing Sewing Circle

Therapeutic sewing sessions for indigenous and non-indigenous participants. A safe and nurturing space to learn sewing skills and share life stories. The sewing classes take place at the Kiwassa Neighbourhood House.
