The 2017 LightWaterDrums Festival will take place Saturday, January 21st from 5:30pm – 8:00pm at Hastings Park.

LightWaterDrums Festival is a winter lantern festival hosted by the Hastings North Community Partners Group that celebrates the dark and wet of Vancouver’s winter and the joy of Hastings Park’s restored natural beauty.

The festival combines the themes of “Light” using fire, lanterns, artistic light and installations in the Park that glow with light in the dark; “Water” which is the rain, pools, ponds and the underground stream running through the park; and “Drums“, the joyful noise of celebrations!

Enjoy live entertainment, musicians, stilt walkers, buskers, fire dancers and make a lantern in the Garden Auditorium parking as our new “gathering” spot. The procession is ongoing with constant movement of light and illumination around the Sanctuary at Hastings Park from both the installations and the public as they walk with glowing lanterns. Walk around as many times as you wish from 5:30pm – 7:00pm while being entertained without missing anything as the program rotates throughout the night!  Enjoy popcorn and hot chocolate (minimum $1 donation for each item) while experiencing the festival, then warm up inside the Garden Auditorium with a musical and theatrical performance with a drumming circle and a CircusWest show.

Everyone can get involved! Remember, this event is rain or shine, so dress for the weather to stay warm and dry! Bring your lanterns, lighted umbrellas and your galoshes. Please note, while we welcome pets on leash during the procession, only service dogs are permitted into the Garden Auditorium.
