Featuring Murphit and Main

An intimate night of music at the Hastings Community Centre in the Community Hall featuring local band Murfitt and Main, two East Van based
singer/songwriters. Murfitt & Main plumb the depths of country, bluegrass,
and western swing, playing home-made songs steeped in the living tradition
of roots music. Their original songs possess a clarity rooted in the musical
traditions of rural North America, in a contemporary voice.

Comprising the core of the band are the two song-smiths Warren Murfitt
(guitar and vocals), and Kate Main (upright bass and vocals). Other
musicians who add their considerable musical talents on frequent occasion:
Chris Dawson-Murphy (banjo, guitar, and vocals), Matt Kennedy (mandolin and vocals). Murfitt & Main make their home on the West Coast of Canada in

This free Community Jam Night occured on the last Friday of the month at the Hastings Community Centre, Community Hall. The evening featured:

A different host band each month
Open mic/jam where you can take the stage with other musicians
Cafe where you can get drinks and snacks at a nominal charge
Free event where all are welcome. Kids too!
Come and Jam with other musicians, friends, and neighbours. There will be a sign-up sheet and a limit of performers with a maximum of two songs each. Doors open at 7:30pm and the sign-up sheet will be made available then. The band will be on hand to accompany any performers wanting their help and add to the community stage. Everyone welcome!
